What we do
Individual and Group Counselling
Riseup offers individual counselling to those who have experienced the trauma of domestic violence and abuse in an intimate partner relationship. Any form of abuse has the potential to have a deep and long-term effect on someone’s life. Unravelling the complexities is difficult, and often requires the help of a trained and caring counsellor. Riseup therapists specialize in the area of family violence and abuse.
The first six sessions of individual therapy is free. After the 6th session, clients are expected to contribute to their sessions based on our sliding scale rates. If there are financial limitations, Riseup will never restrict access to therapy if services are still needed. Individual therapy is delivered by phone, virtually, and in-person depending on the choice of the client.
To book, please contact the office at 780-739-7473 or email [email protected]
Psychoeducational Programming
Riseup offers psychoeducational programming on the topic of intimate partner violence to educate, spread awareness, and to ultimately help decrease its prevalence. Programming can be delivered to community groups, businesses, and anyone wanting more information on the topic.

Led by the passion and vision of a small team, Riseup was established in 2007 to help support women affected by domestic abuse in the greater Leduc community. Beginning with a handful of counselling sessions and a small support group in a home office, the initiative grew quickly as the true scope of the need presented itself. Riseup Society Alberta has now transformed into an organization that provides counseling to men and women struggling with the effects of intimate partner violence regardless of their area of residence.
